On November 22, 2022, the final European conference and exhibition Europe in which I want to live: Europe in 2050 will be opened in Karolin on the grounds of Charles University, where the most successful regions and schools from the Czech Republic, but especially young creators from all over the EU will be awarded.

These will speak at the conference

prof. JUDr. Vladimír Balaš, CSc. – Minister of Education

He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Charles University. During his studies and practice, he completed a number of international educational courses and was the holder of prestigious scholarships from foreign universities. During his professional experience, he held management positions within many important scientific institutions. He was the director of the Institute of State and Law of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, a member of the Scientific Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the chairman of the Czech Society for International Law. He also served as a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague and was also a representative of the Czech Republic within the UN organizations. He is engaged in teaching activities at Czech and foreign universities. He is the co-author of several important publications related to international law. In the years 1994-1998, he was a representative of the city of Pilsen. In 2021, he was elected a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

Ing. Mariana Čapková, MBA – Deputy Mayor, City District Prague 6

A graduate of the University of Economics in Prague and the University of Nebraska in the USA in the fields of diplomacy and international relations. From the autumn of 2022, she is a re-elected representative of the capital city of Prague (for the group Praha sebo) and deputy mayor of Prague 6 for the field of education. Her main topic is social issues in educational management, specifically the issue of socially vulnerable children, children with a different mother tongue and children with disabilities. To the City Hall city of Prague came from the National Security Office, specifically from the subsequently separated National Office for Cyber and Information Security. She is a big supporter of Czech-American cultural and social relations and, among other things, producer of the film The Art of Dissent about Czechoslovak dissent. She actively lobbied for the resumption of operation of the Prague metronome on Letná.

PhDr. Ondřej Černý – CEO of the Czech Center

PhDr. Ondřej Černý (1962) After studying at the Faculty of Economics of the UK (librarianship and scientific information), he worked in the documentation of the Theater Institute as a documentarian in the years 1987 – 1990.
In 1988, he passed the rigorous state examination (PhDr.). In the years 1990-95, he worked as an editor of the newly founded magazine Svět a divadlo. From January 1, 1996 to March 2007, he was director of the Theater Institute and director of two editions of the Prague Quadrennial. On April 1, 2007, he was appointed director of the National Theater, which he headed until September 7, 2012. From January 2013, he worked as the deputy head of the Mapping of Cultural and Creative Industries research team at the Institute of Arts – Theater Institute. He translated contemporary theater plays from German and lectured at the Department of Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Warsaw and the Department of Arts Management at the University of Economics. He collaborated with the Prague Theater Festival of the German Language, in whose dramaturgical profiling he significantly participated. He is a corresponding member of the Saxon Academy of Arts and the Council of the National Museum. Since February 1, 2018, he has been the general director of Czech Centers. Since June 2022, he has been a member of the EUNIC Board, which acts as the executive body of EUNIC and is elected for a two-year term.

EUNIC is a European network of national cultural institutes with 38 members from all EU member states and associated countries. EUNIC members cooperate in the fields of culture, arts, languages, education, science, society, intercultural dialogue and development. At the local level, EUNIC members currently join together in 136 clusters in more than 100 countries around the world to collaborate on joint cultural projects to support the role of culture in the EU’s internal and external relations.

M.Sc. Pavol Kukučka – head of the communication department, Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic

Pavol studied English and American studies in Prešov, but decided to link his career with the European Union. Since 2006, he has been working for the European Commission in the public and digital communications sector. He went from flyers to campaigns, from assistant positions to managerial ones. Since 2019, he has been leading the communications department of the Representation of the European Commission in Prague and enjoys the challenge of debating European topics with the often Eurosceptic Czechs.

Rabbi David Maxa, MA.

works in the progressive Jewish community Ec chajim in Prague and the Jewish community of Liberec. Within the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, he is in charge of the progressive (or reform or liberal) direction of Judaism. He is an administrator of the Central European Beit Din (CEBD), the rabbinical body for Jewish communities in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, and a member of the Rabbinical Assembly of the European Union of Progressive Judaism (EUPJ Rabbinic Assemly – ERA). He is currently a doctoral student at the Hussite Theological Faculty of Charles University. He is socially involved in the field of interreligious and intercultural dialogue and the prevention of anti-Semitism, for which Charles University awarded him the Miloslav Petruska Award in 2021. Together with his wife Judith, Rabbi Max is raising one son.

Ing. Pavlína Macounová – coordinator of the Eurodesk network for the Czech Republic

works at the House of Foreign Cooperation as the coordinator of the Eurodesk network for the Czech Republic with 34 partners in the regions. Together they inform young people about their opportunities within the Erasmus+ programs and the European Solidarity Corps. This year, Pavlína was elected to the executive board of Eurodesk by other countries, so she influences the information of young people on an international level as well.

doc. RNDr. Markéta Martínková – vice-rector for academic affairs, Charles University

She studied biochemistry at PřF UK. In 2003, she defended her dissertation. Between 2004 and 2006, she worked at Tohoku University in the Japanese city of Sendai. He currently teaches clinical biochemistry and biomedicine at the Department of Biochemistry at the Charles University. It guarantees the bachelor’s and subsequent master’s study programs in biochemistry and is a member of two branch councils. The subject of her scientific interest is mainly hemoproteins. She is the author of 48 publications with a citation response of over 700 citations. In the years 2013 to 2022, she was the vice-dean of the Faculty of Arts, UK.

prof. PaedDr. Michal Nedělka, Dr. – Dean of the Faculty of Education, Charles University

Music teacher, currently dean of the Faculty of Education at Charles University. At the center of his professional interest is teacher training, methods and forms of musical and aesthetic education and education for creativity. He is the author of professional literature and textbooks focused on the development of musical activities on
different levels of education.

Bc. Tomáš Novotný – EU Career Student Ambassador at Charles University

Tomáš Novotný has been working as an EU Career Student Ambassador at Charles University for the third year. He graduated in the field of Political Science and Public Policy and is continuing his master’s studies in the field of Public and Social Policy. He works as an administrator of Charles University’s social networks and has also been involved in the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU as a Liaison Officer.

Ing. Pavel Štorkán – director of W&ART, z.s.

Founder and, from its inception in 1995 until the present, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech-Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno. Member of business expert teams for the environment at the national level. Co-author of the Interdisciplinary Product

of tourism, focused on the development of regional tourism in the Czech Republic.

Co-founder and director of the non-governmental non-profit organization W&ART, z.s., which implements the Europe 2050 project and is co-announcer of the European art exhibition “The Europe I want to live in. Europe in 2050.”

Prof. PaedDr. Radka Wildová, CSc. – Deputy Minister of Education

graduated from the Faculty of Education of Charles University. After teaching experience at several elementary schools, she joined the Faculty of Education of the Charles University in 1993 as an academic worker, where she was dean from 2009 to 2016. From 2016 to the end of January 2022, she held the position of vice-rector of Charles University for the concept and quality of educational activities. She is the author or co-author of a number of professional publications and a member of several domestic and foreign expert teams.

Prof. MD Tomáš Zima, DrSc. dr.h.c. (1966) – rector emeritus of Charles University

He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of the UK, since 1999 he has been the head of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the UK and VFN, in 2005 he was appointed professor in the field of medical chemistry and biochemistry. In the years 2005-2012 he was the dean of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, in the years 2014-2022 he was the 508th rector of Charles University. He is a member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, the Czech Medical Academy, the Academia Europea, and other councils and committees of national and international societies (e.g. the Scientific Council of the Slovak Academy of Sciences). He was a member in 2014-2020 of the SPH (Scientific Panel for Health) of the European Union and a number of university associations (e.g. UNICA, EUROPEUM). He is the author or co-author of 9 books and 78 chapters, more than 480 publications and gave more than 600 lectures, H – index 35.
